- Select Make a claim.
- Select Start a claim.
- Select who the claim is for.
- Select which type of claim.
- Select the type of professional who provided the service.
- Fill in the information about who provided the service.
- Answer a few questions about the claim, like whether you needed a doctor’s referral or if you need the service because of an accident.
- Enter how much it cost.
- Attach your receipt as a JPG, JPEG, TIFF, PNG or PDF file.
- Review your claim details.
- Select Submit.
If you’re using the My Canada Life at Work app, it’s a similar journey:
- Log in to My Canada Life At Work™.
- Select Benefits from the navigation bar.
- Select Make a claim.
- Select Start a claim.
- Select who the claim is for.
- Select which type of claim.
- Select the type of professional who provided the service.
- Fill in the information about who provided the service.
- Answer a few questions about the claim, like whether you needed a doctor’s referral or if you need the service because of an accident.
- Enter how much it cost.
- Attach your receipt.
- Review your claim details.
- Select Submit.
You can also submit a paper claim by mail.
- Download and print the form for the kind of expense you’re claiming.
- Attach all original receipts supporting your claim. We don’t accept photocopies. Your original receipts will not be returned.
- Use the mailing address on the form to send it to us.

We suggest waiting about ten days after you submit it to follow up on your claim status.
That’s frustrating! We try to turnaround most claims within 5 days.
There are a few reasons your claim could be taking longer than usual.
It could be missing information. If that’s the case, we’ll reach out to you.
It could also be a more complicated claim that requires us to talk to your medical provider. This sometimes takes more time.
You have up to 15 months to submit a Canada Life health claim. This starts from the date you had the service.
If your claim is 15 months after the date of service, it will be denied.
This is just a general rule. Some plans might work differently. Check your coverage booklet or talk to your plan administrator for more information about your specific coverage.
There are a few reasons why Canada Life might deny your health claim.
Your plan might not cover the service or procedure that you’re claiming.
You could also have used all of your coverage for that service for this year.
