You need to work with your workplace’s benefits plan administrator to make certain changes to your coverage.

Reach out to your plan administrator if you would like to:

  • Enrol in your workplace benefits plan.
  • Provide evidence of insurability required for benefits that need medical underwriting like excess life insurance coverage.
  • Make specific updates that affect your coverage like adding or removing dependents and opting out of coverage. But if you want to make updates like change of address, you can do those yourself using your online account.
  • Apply for optional insurance coverage like accidental death and dismemberment or critical illness.
  • Convert your workplace life insurance coverage into a personal policy.

We’re working on bringing all our forms here, but in the meantime you can continue to get them on the Great-West Life website.

As of Jan. 1, 2020, The Great-West Life Assurance Company, London Life Insurance Company and The Canada Life Assurance Company became one company – The Canada Life Assurance Company. It will take some time to update our websites, materials and forms, so until we’re done, all references to Great-West Life or London Life are to be understood as referring to The Canada Life Assurance Company.

Claims procedures for customer with creditor’s group insurance coverage

Please refer to your particular Certificate for specific details about submitting a claim.  Generally, after you submit a claim, you can expect a response from Canada Life within 2-5 days.  After that, if you have additional information to submit, you can do so.  You should submit all necessary information as soon as possible. For life claims, you should submit a claim within a year following the death of the certificate holder. For all other claims you should submit a claim within 90 days or within the time period set out in your Certificate, whichever is shorter.   If you are not satisfied with the decision, you can appeal at any time. To appeal a claim you should provide us with information not already submitted and we would be pleased to review your appeal. If you are not satisfied with our decision or process, Canada Life has established Customer Complaints Handling Procedures.   Please refer to the information here.
