Canada Life announces enhancements to its segregated fund offering

LONDON, ON, September 16, 2026 – The Canada Life Assurance Company (“Canada Life”) announced enhancements to its segregated fund offering, including expanded investment options for Estate Protection policies and for contributions made when an annuitant is over the age of 90, as well as the addition of new managers, PIMCO Canada Corp. (“PIMCO”) and Edgepoint Investment Group Inc. (“Edgepoint”). These enhancements expand investment choice while providing greater flexibility for clients’ financial, retirement and estate planning needs.

“We are excited to bring some new investment managers, PIMCO and Edgepoint, to our segregated fund shelf offering,” says Sam Febbraro, Senior Vice-President of Wealth Solutions at Canada Life. “Advisors have told us they want access to additional and differentiated solutions across our policies. These enhancements reflect that feedback, delivering competitive solutions that aim to deliver stronger outcomes for clients.”

A summary of the enhancements is as follows:

Expanding options for Estate Protection policies and for contributions where annuitant is above the age of 90

Canada Life is expanding the investment options available through its Estate Protection policies and for contributions made where an annuitant is above the age of 90, giving clients additional opportunities to remain invested while continuing to benefit from the protection and estate planning features available through segregated fund policies.

"We regularly hear from advisors and investors about the importance of flexibility in estate and financial planning," said Nick Moumos, Vice-President, Wealth Solutions, Canada Life. "These enhancements expand access to our segregated fund solutions and provide clients with more options to help meet their evolving needs."

New investment manager options expand investment choice

Canada Life is expanding its segregated fund shelf with the addition of investment mandates managed by PIMCO and EdgePoint, providing advisors and investors with greater choice across income and equity-focused investment solutions.

PIMCO

The new Monthly Income segregated fund will invest in the PIMCO Monthly Income Fund (Canada), providing clients with a multi-sector fixed income solution seeking to maximise income from across global fixed income markets.

Edgepoint

Canada Life is also introducing three mandates managed by EdgePoint that will invest in certain of EdgePoint’s mutual funds. The new Global Companies segregated fund will invest in the EdgePoint Global Portfolio. The Canadian Companies (previously Canadian Focused Value Stock) and Canadian Growth and Income (previously Canadian Growth Balanced II) segregated funds have transitioned to management by Edgepoint and undergone corresponding name changes, as well as changes to their investment strategy and/or availability. These changes are applicable only to Canada Life’s segregated fund policies, not those originally with Great-West Life or London Life.
